“Resurrection” Here I am sitting in our living room watching the movie “Mission” with my brother friars. It’s a very difficult movie to watch. It deals with a group of good and compassionate Jesuit priests who are missionaries to indigenous peoples in South America. It’s also the tale of the injustices that the indigenous people were forced to suffer by the Spanish and Portuguese Crowns. The injustices were so brutal that the priests themselves took on arms to defend the indigenous. Yet their faith in God never waivered and they were totally dedicated to justice as they thought God wanted to them to protect. There are many scenes that just break your heart.
