Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Immigration is not merely a matter of public policy or law enforcement; it touches the very heart of our faith.
Every person is created in the image of God and deserves dignity, compassion, and care. Jesus Himself knew the experience of being a refugee, and He commands us to welcome the stranger, for in doing so we welcome Him.
A broken immigration system will not be improved through fear. We welcome comprehensive reform of the U.S. immigration system through a dialogue and approach which respects both borders and human dignity.
When one part of the Body of Christ is suffering, we all hurt. To our immigrant sisters and brothers: you are not alone. We see your fear and suffering, and we stand with you in solidarity.
When circumstances beyond your control keep you from Mass, you are dispensed from the obligation; your absence is not a failure but a burden we carry together.
I thank all of you who accompany immigrants with love and call on leaders to seek just and humane solutions. We take heart in knowing that Christ walks with us always, and for all of us, our true homeland is God’s Kingdom where we will all dwell together in perfect peace.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo,
La inmigración no es simplemente un asunto de política pública o de aplicación de la ley; toca la esencia misma de nuestra fe.
Toda persona es creada a imagen de Dios y merece dignidad, compasión y cuidado. Jesús mismo conoció la experiencia de ser un refugiado y nos manda acoger al extranjero, porque al hacerlo, lo acogemos a Él.
Un sistema migratorio quebrado no mejorará con el miedo. Acogemos con satisfacción una reforma integral del sistema migratorio estadounidense mediante un diálogo y un enfoque que respete tanto las fronteras como la dignidad humana. Cuando una parte del Cuerpo de Cristo sufre, todos sufrimos. A nuestros hermanos y hermanas inmigrantes: no están solos. Vemos su miedo y sufrimiento, y los acompañamos en solidaridad.
Cuando circunstancias ajenas a su voluntad les impiden asistir a Misa, se les dispensa de la obligación; su ausencia no es un fracaso, sino una carga que llevamos juntos.
Agradezco a todos los que acompañan a los inmigrantes con amor y hago un llamado a los líderes para que busquen soluciones justas y humanas. Nos reconforta saber que Cristo camina siempre con nosotros, y para todos nosotros,
nuestra verdadera patria es el Reino de Dios, donde viviremos juntos en perfecta paz.
