Young People Are Awesome Christians
On Sunday, September 7th, Pope Leo will declare that two young men, Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati are saints of the Catholic Church. Carlo died at the age of 15 after a struggle with leukemia and Pier Giorgio died at the age of 24 after contracting poliomyelitis. Both of these young men gave witness of their faith in their unique ways. They are an inspiration and an example for our youth. Their pictures will hang in our church when the church renovations are done.
We will share information with you about these two young men. You can pick the printed information at the entrance of the church. As you read you will see that they were normal young men who were deeply in touch with God and with their faith. They shared their faith in many ways and today they serve as an inspiration for all of us.
St. Paul in one of his letters to Timothy, who was a very young man, says to him: “Don’t be upset if anyone thinks less of you because you are young. Let the light of Jesus shine in your actions and in your words.”
And today I say the same to our youth: “Don’t underestimate yourself nor underestimate the grace of God in you. Love God as deeply and as honestly as you can. Then let God’s strength flow through you so that your words and actions make Jesus and his message real in our world. Be courageous, strong, and bold in the way you are a Catholic Christian. Let your light shine for all to see!”

Los Jóvenes Son Cristianos Increíbles
El domingo 7 de septiembre, el Papa León XVI declarará santos de la Iglesia Católica a dos jóvenes, Carlo Acutis y Pier Giorgio Frassati. Carlo falleció a los 15 años tras luchar contra la leucemia, y Pier Giorgio falleció a los 24 años tras contraer poliomielitis. Ambos jóvenes dieron testimonio de su fe de maneras únicas. Son una inspiración y un ejemplo para nuestros jóvenes. Sus fotos estarán colgadas en nuestra iglesia cuando se realicen las renovaciones.
Compartiremos información con ustedes sobre estos dos jóvenes. Pueden recoger la información impresa en la entrada de la iglesia. Al leerla, verán que eran jóvenes normales, profundamente conectados con Dios y con su fe.
Compartieron su fe de muchas maneras y hoy son una inspiración para todos nosotros.
San Pablo, en una de sus cartas a Timoteo, quien era muy joven, le dice: “No te inquietes si alguien te menosprecia por ser joven. Deja que la luz de Jesús brille en tus acciones y palabras”.
Y hoy les digo lo mismo a nuestros jóvenes: “No te subestimes ni subestimes la gracia de Dios en ti. Ama a Dios tan profunda y honestamente como puedas. Luego, deja que la fuerza de Dios fluya a través de ti para que tus palabras y acciones hagan que Jesús y su mensaje sean reales en nuestro mundo. Sé valiente, fuerte y audaz como cristiano católico. ¡Que tu luz brille para que todos la vean!”.
