Hey You!/¡Oye, tú!
“Hey, you! Yeah, you young man or young woman. I want to talk with you!”
I know you want a good life for yourself. You’re going to school or you’re working.
You may be saving up your money for school, car, or an apartment, or even a house.
I know you have dreams for yourself, and I hope all of you do have great dreams and hopes for yourselves.
But let me throw something at you.
Have you ever thought about making a difference in life and in the world?
Have you ever thought of doing something meaningful and giving purpose to your life…not just for yourself but for others too?
How close do you let God get near you?
Do you have enough trust to be open to what God may want of you or is that too scary for you?
I assure you that any invitation that comes from God is the best thing that can come your way.
How much are you willing to trust…to pay attention…to respond to God with generosity.
You know…the type of generosity that thinks of others with the same importance as we think of ourselves?
We are celebrating the graduations of many young people like you.
And the graduations from high school and college are special ones because they launch you into the real world where your desires for yourselves start taking more concrete shape.
As your priest, brother, and friend I ask you not to make your life a little one. Life is big and if you go out into life with a big heart, life will become even bigger.
Don’t settle for just something. Go for everything and I hope that making a positive difference in this world is part of that everything.
Dream big. Stay curious about the good things in life and believe in yourselves.
Keep God alive in your thoughts and in your hearts. Keep God part of your lives.
God’s spirit will give you the wisdom and strength to stay true to your dreams and hopes, and will also give you the courage and the generosity
so that you can be a human being that contributes and not just takes from life.
Congratulations to all of you who graduate this year. I am so proud of each and every one of you.
I pray that you create something magnificent with your life, give it purpose, and make it mean something good.

Sé que deseas una buena vida para ti mismo. Estás estudiando o estás trabajando.
Tal vez estés ahorrando dinero para tus estudios, para un auto, para un apartamento o incluso para una casa.
Sé que tienes sueños para ti, y espero que todos ustedes tengan grandes sueños y esperanzas para sus vidas.
Pero permítanme plantearles algo.
¿Alguna vez han pensado en marcar la diferencia en la vida y en el mundo?
¿Alguna vez han pensado en hacer algo significativo y darle un propósito a su vida… no solo para ustedes mismos, sino también para los demás?
¿Qué tan cerca permiten que Dios se acerque a ustedes?
¿Tienen la confianza suficiente para abrirse a lo que Dios pueda querer de ustedes, o eso les resulta demasiado intimidante?
Les aseguro que cualquier invitación que provenga de Dios es lo mejor que les puede suceder.
¿Qué tanto están dispuestos a confiar… a prestar atención… a responder a Dios con generosidad?
Ya saben… ¿ese tipo de generosidad que piensa en los demás con la misma importancia con la que pensamos en nosotros mismos?
Estamos celebrando las graduaciones de muchos jóvenes como ustedes.
Y las graduaciones de la escuela secundaria y de la universidad son momentos especiales, pues los lanzan hacia el mundo real, donde sus deseos para sí mismos comienzan a tomar una forma más concreta.
Como su sacerdote, hermano y amigo, les pido que no hagan de su vida algo pequeño.
La vida es grande, y si salen a enfrentarla con un corazón grande, la vida se volverá aún más grande.
No se conformen con cualquier cosa. Aspiren a conseguirlo todo; y espero que el marcar una diferencia positiva en este mundo sea parte de ese “todo”.
Sueñen en grande. Mantengan viva su curiosidad por las cosas buenas de la vida y crean en ustedes mismos.
Mantengan a Dios vivo en sus pensamientos y en sus corazones. Hagan que Dios siga siendo parte de sus vidas.
El Espíritu de Dios les dará la sabiduría y la fortaleza para mantenerse fieles a sus sueños y esperanzas; y también les dará el valor
y la generosidad para que puedan ser seres humanos que contribuyen a la vida, y no solo aquellos que se limitan a tomar de ella.
Felicidades a todos ustedes que se gradúan este año. Me siento inmensamente orgulloso de cada uno de ustedes.
Rezo para que construyan algo magnífico con sus vidas, le den un propósito y hagan que tenga un sentido positivo.
Camina suavemente con tu Dios.
