A Little Rest / Un Poco de Descanso

A Little Rest on the Horizon  /  Un Poco de Descanso en el Horizonte My vacation time begins on July 1st but I will meet with the Dean of our Deanery to go over various parish reports. And on the 2nd I will not be in the parish for a number of days. I will be in and out of the parish during the month of July. I will not be scheduling appointments during this time so that I can attend to administrative obligations. Fr. Tim will celebrate the weekday and weekend Masses during the time I am out of the parish. I will be in the parish toward the end of July while Fr. Tim is on retreat and then I will take a few more...

An Ordinary Way to Heaven

An Ordinary Way to Heaven God only knows how many times we have said and felt that life is just too hectic…too fast. How many times have we felt like we don’t have time to do the things we really like doing? How many times have we felt like life is passing us by? So, let me offer you a little food for thought and a little consolation too. Let’s start with a little philosophy: “If you don’t control it, it will control you.” And I’m speaking about “speed” here. We all know that when we drive our cars and we drive too fast, it can be dangerous for us and for others. And we also don’t get to enjoy the scenery when we drive too fast because...

Beautifying our Church / Embelleciendo nuestra Iglesia

Beautifying our Church for the Glory of God  / Embelleciendo nuestra Iglesia para la Gloria de Dios Dear Good People of God, It is my hope to have the month of January 2026 dedicated to remodeling our church sanctuary. Quinceañeras, weddings and baptisms for the month of January will not be scheduled due to work that will be in progress in the church. I’m sure that we will have scaffolding, ladders, and equipment in the church. We will try to continue to offer daily Mass if at all possible. Our Saturday and Sunday schedule of Masses will continue as normal, but I do ask your understanding and patience as we celebrate Masses in the midst of whatever equipment is set up in the church. At this time, I call...

50 Treasures

Fifty Treasures for the Lord On this Sunday, fifty of our children, fifty treasures, will make their First Communion. They will approach the table of the Lord and of our Community to commune with the very life of Jesus. What a joy it is for us! What a joy it is for them and their families! I pray that they will always be as close to Jesus as those children that we see in this picture. I pray that they may always feel such joy in being Catholic Christians. I thank you parents for your desire to bring your daughters and sons to the Lord. Thank you to you, our dear catechists, for your dedication, generosity, and sacrifice in preparing our treasures for the reception of the Eucharist. On...

Truth in Jest

Sometimes There is Truth in Jest Have you ever felt like you have nothing to say for the moment? Have you ever been in a situation where you were expected to say “something” but you really had nothing to say? Well, my dear people, this is where I find myself this week. Perhaps I’m just talked-out and preached-out. My only consolation is that silence, at times, is absolutely golden and delicious. So, I’m going to give myself the permission not to say anything more than what I am writing at the moment, because when one forces oneself to say something or anything when one is not so inspired, what comes out of oneself is usually not worth anything. Perhaps this is the message for this week: When you have...
