Pondering

It is recorded in the Gospels that Our Blessed Mother pondered many things in her heart. Being the mother of Jesus the adult must have been extremely challenging and heart-breaking for many reasons. Yet we are led to believe that she pondered everything in her heart. Her heart must have been filled with so many wonderings and questions and sorrows together with joy, gratitude, and courage. Above all, she pondered so much and must have worried a lot, like any good mother would who doesn’t fully understand what her child is up to. It must have been difficult to figure Jesus out, don’t you think? Or are you still trapped in fairytales?

What is pondering? Well, to put it in simple terms, it means considering and reflecting deeply. It also has to do with considering all the possible repercussions, outcomes, and consequences of the matters being thought about. It is a deep awareness of how the things we ponder affect us personally and affect others also. When we ponder, we go deep into the possible mystery of it all with hope of gaining greater appreciation for what is being pondered. Pondering is not easy. Many ponderings also lead to deeper self-knowledge and that is not always a welcomed event.

So, if you put the top two paragraphs together to tell one story, what story would it create? Or better yet, would you create?

Perhaps it might lead you to experiences in your life when you have had to ponder. What do those experiences teach you today? How can they make you stronger and bolder today? Surely our Blessed Mother had to become a strong and bold woman!

Reflexionando

Los Evangelios registran que Nuestra Santísima Madre reflexionaba sobre muchas cosas en su corazón. Ser la madre de Jesús, ya adulto, debió ser extremadamente difícil y desgarrador por muchas razones. Sin embargo, se nos hace creer que meditaba sobre todo en su corazón. Su corazón debió estar lleno de preguntas, interrogantes y tristezas, junto con alegría, gratitud y valentía. Sobre todo, reflexionó muchísimo y debió preocuparse mucho, como cualquier buena madre que no comprende del todo lo que su hijo está tramando. Debió ser difícil comprender a Jesús, ¿no crees? ¿O sigues atrapado en la fantasía?

¿Qué es reflexionar? Bueno, en pocas palabras, significa considerar y reflexionar profundamente. También implica considerar todas las posibles repercusiones, resultados y consecuencias de los asuntos que se están considerando. Es una profunda conciencia de cómo las cosas que meditamos nos afectan personalmente y también a los demás. Cuando reflexionamos, profundizamos en el posible misterio de todo con la esperanza de apreciar mejor lo que reflexionamos. Reflexionar no es fácil. Muchas reflexiones también conducen a un autoconocimiento más profundo, y eso no siempre es bienvenido.
Entonces, si unieras los dos primeros párrafos para contar una historia, ¿qué historia se crearía? O mejor aún, ¿crearías tú?

Quizás te lleve a experiencias de tu vida en las que hayas tenido que reflexionar. ¿Qué te enseñan esas experiencias hoy? ¿Cómo pueden hacerte más fuerte y valiente hoy? ¡Sin duda, nuestra Santísima Madre tuvo que convertirse en una mujer fuerte y valiente!
