Young People Are Awesome Christians

Young People Are Awesome Christians On Sunday, September 7th, Pope Leo will declare that two young men, Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati are saints of the Catholic Church. Carlo died at the age of 15 after a struggle with leukemia and Pier Giorgio died at the age of 24 after contracting poliomyelitis. Both of these young men gave witness of their faith in their unique ways. They are an inspiration and an example for our youth. Their pictures will hang in our church when the church renovations are done. We will share information with you about these two young men. You can pick the printed information at the entrance of the church. As you read you will see that they were normal young men who were...

When the Well Runs Dry / Cuando el Pozo se Seca

When the Well Runs Dry That is the title of a book that was published many years ago. It speaks about those times when we feel spiritually dry without the desire to pray. I’m sure that we have all felt like that at times. Perhaps, many times throughout our lives. It seems like we just don’t have the energy nor the time to pray. We just feel empty. Without the desire to converse with God. Does it mean that there is something wrong with us spiritually? Or that we are weak in faith? Absolutely not! It happens to practically everyone and in some sense, it is natural. You see, we live very busy lives and there’s a lot of energy that goes into everything that we need and...

Pondering / Reflexionando

Pondering It is recorded in the Gospels that Our Blessed Mother pondered many things in her heart. Being the mother of Jesus the adult must have been extremely challenging and heart-breaking for many reasons. Yet we are led to believe that she pondered everything in her heart. Her heart must have been filled with so many wonderings and questions and sorrows together with joy, gratitude, and courage. Above all, she pondered so much and must have worried a lot, like any good mother would who doesn’t fully understand what her child is up to. It must have been difficult to figure Jesus out, don’t you think? Or are you still trapped in fairytales? What is pondering? Well, to put it in simple terms, it means considering and...

STOP! Share and be present! ¡Para! ¡Comparte y sé presente!

Are We Truly In Touch With One Another? Are We Truly Aware of Each Other? Are We Present to the Other? When we are young time passes slowly. The older we get, the faster time goes. It seems, at times, that time passes us by. Or does it really? There is so much that occupies our time! So many things we have to do. So many obligations and responsibilities we have to fulfill. There’s just so much to do! So much…that sometimes we forget who we are doing it for and who is doing the doing. Lord, please help me put on the brakes! Slow this thing, please, so I can catch my breath! We are a very pragmatic society. We do and do and do. We work and...

God the Artist / Dios, el Artista

God the Artist Don’t ever stand behind or next to an artist while he or she is creating something. Artists need room, space, and not so much conversation while they are creating. If you ever stand behind or next to an artist while he or she is creating, and you start offering suggestions, you will frustrate and paralyze the artist. When the artist is at work, your job is to stand back and admire what the artist is doing without interrupting the artist. And if you consider your suggestions or opinions to be so important, it is better for you to create something yourself. Only if an artist asks for your suggestions and opinions should you meddle in the artists’ creative process. That’s just the way it is. The...
