Read This Face? / ¿Lees esta cara?

Read This Face? / ¿Lees esta cara? I can’t help but see so much frustration and despair in the face of this woman. I don’t know if her closed fist is a sign of anger or something even more intense. Her reaction appears to be a response to something awful. Something that leaves a person in despair for reasons that attack the heart and mind with brutal force. In many ways this picture captures for me how many feel in our country today. If you could put a caption on this picture, what would it say? (Don’t read any further. Answer the question first). Continue reading: If this woman was a loving and caring Christian woman who took the message of Jesus seriously, what would the caption say? Now, compare your...

Happy New Year / Feliz Año Nuevo

So, here we are at the beginning of 2026.When we look back at 2025, what do we see? When we look forward to 2026, what do we hope for? Go ahead and approach these questions in prayer, turn them into a prayer. What kind of prayers will they be? Prayers of gratitude? Prayers of fear and anxiety? Prayers of hope? Prayers of sorrow? Prayers for healing? Prayers for peace? Prayers for guidance and wisdom? Prayers for success? Prayers for happiness and good health? What kind of prayers will such questions lead us to take before our God? Just be yourself before the Lord and speak to God from the heart. And, don’t do it just once. Place yourself in the midst of our prayers often and trust that what...

We Shall Not Ignore / No ignoraremos

We Shall Not Ignore the Holy Families. We Will Not Forget You. This picture captures the many families throughout the world who find themselves homeless and with no place to stay, like The Holy Family themselves experienced. Within the joy of this Christmas Season, a season of joy and hope for the world, we still face the grim reality that so many human beings still suffer from the same maladies that have afflicted humanity for ages: strife, poverty, war, misunderstanding, lack of compassion, and human greed. We cannot forget them. For to forget them is to forget the suffering Christ who was born and lives among us. As we come together with family and friends in the warmth of our homes, let us lift all these holy families...

Willingly… / Voluntariamente

Willingly, We Will Awaken to God. Willingly, We Will Respond Lovingly to God’s Invitations. In Acts 17:28 we hear: “For in Him we live, and move, and have our being.” What a tremendous revelation! We often speak about our need to return to God, but the matter is more like turning our attention to God, becoming aware that we are already IN God and what is really required is a willing desire to recognize God’s presence in us and our presence in God. God is always present and there is nothing that separates God from us. We may forget God, walk away from God’s ways, and become numb to God’s presence within us, but “nothing can separate us from the love of God” as Holy Scripture also reveals to...
