Peace To speak on behalf of peace and to condemn war is what decent people do. To stand up for peace and to put the authors of war in their place is the work of courageous descent people. To be a voice for peace is to be Christian. To be a voice for peace has never been easy and blessed are they, as Jesus said. The Holiest of Weeks I think that the best spiritual guidance I can share with you, my dear sisters and brothers, is to try to be attentive as much as you possibly can to the events in Jesus’ life that we remember this week. Do what you can to be aware of Jesus’ passion and all the reasons (the life and example) that took Jesus to these events. Pick up your bibles, open them to the Gospel passages that recount the events of Jesus’ last few days. Bring them to life in your minds and in your hearts. A Spiritual Practice for Holy Week As we approach Holy Week we prepare ourselves to remember our Lord’s suffering and crucifixion. It is a time of lamentation as we remember the cruelty that was heaped upon Him. We are given the opportunity to open a greater space within us for compassion to take root and for compassion to become a value and practice in our lives.
