I’m so glad that some wish to share some aspects of their spiritual journey with our parish family. May they inspire us and help us on our own journeys. Friar Julio

“During the Lenten Season I tend to doubt myself. I tend to judge each thing and everything I do. I am a very talented person. I love to speak, to listen, and not to speak. I love to paint, draw, sing, dance, and, most of all, I love contemplation. Contemplation was nerve racking for my senses.

However, I’m learning that it’s ‘never too old to learn,’ to calm down and to take a little time to smell, to close my eyes, to become empty of thoughts and listen. As I have progressed with contemplation, I’ve also grown in the skills of teaching, learning, and creating. Yes, I’m older and retired, but the time spent in contemplative prayer lends itself to more productive active time.
I’m a complex artist. I thought I was a simple human being, but I was wrong. The more I pray and contemplate the more profound my life becomes. This is a complex but easy ride. The more you delve, the easier it becomes to feel the spirit of God, to know his presence, and feel the love. Our Lord is pure and simple although we tend to make the Spirit complicated.

So, slow down a little. Try contemplative prayer and enjoy the fulfillment given by the Spirit.” -Alice.

A Prayer During Conversion in the Lenten Journey:

“Breathe in the Holy Spirit all around us and into our hearts, minds, bodies and souls.
Dear God, Show me. Teach me.
Guide and help me.
Grant me the gift and grace to follow your example in the way of Love.
Grant me the grace to give up the vices that keep me from living in the fullness of Christ.
For I can’t do it without you, Jesus.
In Christ I can do all things.
May I receive your Holy Spirit to transform me and to consume all that is dross and lacking of God.
In Jesus’ name, may God’s love and light fill me and be reflected in, out, and all around me.
May Christ’s Light shine forever in us.

Durante la Cuaresma tiendo a dudar de mí misma. Tiendo a juzgar cada cosa y todo lo que hago. Soy una persona muy talentosa. Me encanta hablar, escuchar y callar. Me encanta pintar, dibujar, cantar, bailar y, sobre todo, me encanta la contemplación. La contemplación era estresante para mis sentidos.

Sin embargo, estoy aprendiendo que “nunca es demasiado tarde para aprender”, a calmarme y tomarme un tiempo para oler, cerrar los ojos, vaciarme de pensamientos y escuchar.
A medida que he progresado con la contemplación, también he desarrollado mis habilidades para enseñar, aprender y crear. Sí, soy mayor y estoy jubilada, pero el tiempo que dedico a la oración contemplativa se presta a un tiempo activo más productivo.
Soy un artista compleja. Pensaba que era un ser humano sencillo, pero me equivocaba. Cuanto más rezo y contemplo,más profunda se vuelve mi vida. Es un camino complejo pero fácil. Cuanto más profundizas, más fácil se vuelve…
Sentir el Espíritu de Dios, conocer su presencia y sentir su amor. Nuestro Señor es puro y sencillo, aunque solemos complicar el Espíritu.

Así que, relájate un poco. Prueba la oración contemplativa y disfruta de la plenitud que te da el Espíritu. -Alice.

Oración durante la Conversión en el Camino Cuaresmal:

“Inhala el Espíritu Santo a nuestro alrededor y en nuestros corazones, mentes, cuerpos y almas.
Querido Dios, Muéstrame. Enséñame.
Guíame y ayúdame.
Concédeme el don y la gracia de seguir tu ejemplo en el camino del Amor.
Concédeme la gracia de abandonar los vicios que me impiden vivir en la plenitud de Cristo.
Porque no puedo hacerlo sin ti, Jesús.
En Cristo todo lo puedo. Que reciba tu Espíritu Santo para transformarme y quitar todo lo que es escoria y lo que no es de Dios.
En el nombre de Jesús, que el amor y la luz de Dios me llenen y se reflejen en mí, en mí y a mi alrededor.
Que la luz de Cristo brille por siempre en nosotros.
