Who was Timothy?
No one talks a lot about St. Timothy. But he was a very interesting, and someone who I feel was a lot like me. I always feel like I don’t have the right answers because I am still young and even though I have faith and all. Sometimes I dont, but a lot of the time I do because I was taught right by my parents. 1 Tim. 4:1-16
Counsel to Timothy
1 Now the Spirit explicitly says that in the last times some will turn away from the faith by paying attention to deceitful spirits and demonic instructions
2 through the hypocrisy of liars with branded consciences.
3 They forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.
4 For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected when received with thanksgiving,
5 for it is made holy by the invocation of God in prayer.
6 If you will give these instructions to the brothers, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished on the words of the faith and of the sound teaching you have followed.
7 Avoid profane and silly myths. Train yourself for devotion,
8 for, while physical training is of limited value, devotion is valuable in every respect, since it holds a promise of life both for the present and for the future.
9 This saying is trustworthy and deserves full acceptance.
10 For this we toil and struggle, 4 because we have set our hope on the living God, who is the savior of all, especially of those who believe.
11 Command and teach these things.
12 Let no one have contempt for your youth, 6 but set an example for those who believe, in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity.
13 Until I arrive, attend to the reading, 7 exhortation, and teaching.
14 Do not neglect the gift you have, which was conferred on you through the prophetic word 8 with the imposition of hands of the presbyterate.
15 Be diligent in these matters, be absorbed in them, so that your progress may be evident to everyone.
16 Attend to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in both tasks, for by doing so you will save both yourself and those who listen to you.

Consejo a Timoteo
1 El Espíritu afirma claramente que en los últimos tiempos habrá algunos que renegarán de su fe, para entregarse a espíritus seductores y doctrinas demoníacas,
2 seducidos por gente mentirosa e hipócrita, cuya conciencia está marcada a fuego.
3 Esa gente proscribe el matrimonio y prohíbe el consumo de determinados alimentos que Dios creó para que los creyentes y los conocedores de la verdad los comieran dando gracias.
4 Todo lo que Dios ha creado es bueno, y nada es despreciable, si se lo recibe con acción de gracias,
5 porque la Palabra de Dios y la oración lo santifican.
6 Si explicas todo esto a los hermanos, serás un servidor de Cristo Jesús, alimentado por las enseñanzas de la fe y de la buena doctrina que siempre seguiste fielmente.
7 Rechaza esos mitos ridículos, esos cuentos de viejas, y ejercítate en la piedad.
8 Los ejercicios físicos son de poca utilidad; la piedad, en cambio, es útil para todo, porque encierra una promesa de Vida para el presente y para el futuro.
9 Esta es doctrina cierta y absolutamente digna de fe.
10 Nosotros nos fatigamos y luchamos porque hemos puesto nuestra esperanza en el Dios viviente, que es el Salvador de todos los hombres, especialmente de los que creen.
11 Predica esto y enséñalo.
12 Que nadie menosprecie tu juventud: por el contrario, trata de ser un modelo para los que creen, en la conversación, en la conducta, en el amor, en la fe, en la pureza de vida.
13 Hasta que yo llegue, dedícate a la proclamación de las Escrituras, a la exhortación y a la enseñanza.
14 No malogres el don espiritual que hay en ti y que te fue conferido mediante una intervención profética, por la imposición de las manos del presbiterio.
15 Reflexiona sobre estas cosas y dedícate enteramente a ellas, para que todos vean tus progresos.
16 Vigila tu conducta y tu doctrina, y persevera en esta actitud. Si obras así, te salvarás a ti mismo y salvarás a los que te escuchen.
