Pier Giorgio Frassati’s Wisdom

St. Pier Giorgio Frassati's Wisdom / La sabiduría de Pier Giorgio Frassati Similar to today, there were many deep political conflicts happening during the time of Pier Giorgio Frassati. Frassati was an opponent of fascism in Italy, and actively participated in many anti-fascist protests. He supported Catholic organizations that promoted Christian democracy, and opposed Mussolini's regime. He was known for his vigorous defense of his beliefs, even in the face of physical confrontation, and served as an inspiration for many young Catholics through his devout faith, active social justice work, and opposition to a movement based on force. In his lifetime, St. Pier Giorgio Frassati wrote many letters and gave many speeches to friends and family.  On July 29, 1923, he spoke to youth and young adults in...

Thank you my God

Thank you, my God, I love you. My brothers and sisters in Christ, I want to share with you my testimony of faith and what God has done in my life with His great love, forgiveness, and mercy. Now I'm going to tell you what the Lord did in my life, healing my illness and saving my life. I was spiritually and emotionally ill. I felt sad and everything scared me. I only saw the negative. Everything seemed bad to me. I felt powerless, lonely, and bitter, even though I have my family. That's how I felt, and I couldn't find any meaning in my life. Well, that's how I felt, and even in the midst of all that, I didn't give up and I sought to draw...

The Gifts of a Mother / Los Dones de una Madre

A look back at the month of May for future inspiration “The Gifts of a Mother” The month of May is no doubt the time when we reflect on the person who gave us life here on earth, and in most cases the one who nurtured us as a babe, tried to teach us right from wrong and whose connection with us is bound for life. Each year I often reflect on “ALL” of the mothers in my life. While I undoubtedly honor Mother Mary and my mother here on earth, there have been many who have influenced my life that I consider a maternal figure deserving of celebration. Those who guided some of my decisions in life taught me through their words and those who I looked...

Spiritual Journey Viaje espiritual

I’m so glad that some wish to share some aspects of their spiritual journey with our parish family. May they inspire us and help us on our own journeys. Friar Julio “During the Lenten Season I tend to doubt myself. I tend to judge each thing and everything I do. I am a very talented person. I love to speak, to listen, and not to speak. I love to paint, draw, sing, dance, and, most of all, I love contemplation. Contemplation was nerve racking for my senses. However, I’m learning that it’s ‘never too old to learn,’ to calm down and to take a little time to smell, to close my eyes, to become empty of thoughts and listen. As I have progressed with contemplation, I’ve also...

From the Soul: Reflections / Desde el Alma: Reflexiones

Reflections on Life, Faith, and Spirituality. A Christian community is enriched when its members share with one another their journeys of faith. I would like for this to happen among us. We all have much to offer one another from our experiences in Life, Faith, and our Spiritual Journey. Every week I speak with the parish family about many things in the letter that I write: “From the Heart.” Now, I would like to add a new letter entitled: “From the Soul.” I’m not the one that will write it. I would like to give you the opportunity to share your reflections on what life has taught you, on what faith means to you, and on how your spiritual journey has been. I am sure and positive that...
