Fear or Hope
Everyday there is a reality that exists within us, our need for Hope. Hope is a “fighting virtue”. It keeps us going!
The 2 villains in life, fear and discouragement, do everything they can to hold us back. We all face something that gives us fear, which discourages us. Hope speaks to us in that moment, giving us trust in another and extended into the future. It gives us courage to keep going. I have trust in Him regardless of what I have or don’t have.
In the Passion Lk:22- Peter is confident that he will not betray Jesus. What is he actually saying… Jesus I have you but I don’t really need you. “I got this”.
In the Resurrection Lk: 24- On the road to Emmaus, Jesus walks with them along the way. They were crushed at His death… full of disappointment. They knew they needed Him, but they didn’t know they had Him. “We had this”.
What the resurrection actually says to us is “You do need Jesus…and You have Him” to help conquer fear and discouragement… pride.
Cada día existe una realidad dentro de nosotros: nuestra necesidad de esperanza. La esperanza es una virtud que nos impulsa a seguir adelante.
Los dos villanos de la vida, el miedo y el desánimo, hacen todo lo posible por frenarnos. Todos enfrentamos algo que nos atemoriza y nos desanima. La esperanza nos habla en ese momento, dándonos confianza en el otro y proyectándola hacia el futuro. Nos da valor para seguir adelante. Confío en Él, tenga o no tenga.
En la Pasión (Lc:22), Pedro confía en que no traicionará a Jesús. ¿Qué está diciendo realmente?… Jesús, te tengo, pero no te necesito. “Lo tengo bajo control”.
En la Resurrección (Lc:24), camino a Emaús, Jesús los acompaña. Quedaron destrozados por su muerte, llenos de decepción. Sabían que lo necesitaban, pero no sabían que lo tenían. “Lo teníamos bajo control”.
Lo que realmente nos dice la resurrección es: “Necesitas a Jesús… y lo tienes” para ayudarte a vencer el miedo y el desánimo… el orgullo.
