What Matters Most? / What Matters Most?
“Vanity of vanities, says Qoheleth, vanity of vanities! All things are vanity!”
Today we listen from Ecclesiastes 1 that all things in this world will not last. Vanity = Emptiness, so we are taught to not love the things of the world.
Think of yourself as a visitor from another planet coming to visit Earth. When leave here, you remember you were told not to bring anything back home that is of Earth. If you look around, everything you see here is considered “of this world”. From trees, animals and food to cars, houses, clothes, jobs, school, phones, games, money…. anything that is from this world. And it isn’t because these things are bad. They make things in life easier and convenient. Some things are necessary to keep us alive!
But even if you work all your life, these things wont last. We should always be grateful for whatever we have but always remember that LOVE matters most. Greediness isn’t good. Happiness shouldn’t be about the things we have, but be about God and the people in our lives.
In Luke 12:13-21, we are taught that life is more than material things. True life comes from a good relationship with God, not accumulating wealth. Not greed.
We always want more. But when we leave here and return to God, if He asks us what our lives mean, what would we say? All of the things we stored up? Or that I loved my family and God and others more than anything? What matters most is to be RICH in faith, hope and love.
Earth things vs Eternal things! What things should I hold on to? What things should I let go of?

“¡Vanidad de vanidades!”, dice Qohelet, “¡vanidad de vanidades!”. “¡Todo es vanidad!”.
Hoy escuchamos en Eclesiastés 1 que todo en este mundo no durará. Vanidad = Vacío, por eso se nos enseña a no amar las cosas del mundo.
Imagínate como un visitante de otro planeta que viene a la Tierra. Al partir, recuerdas que te dijeron que no trajeras nada de la Tierra. Si miras a tu alrededor, todo lo que ves aquí se considera “de este mundo”. Desde árboles, animales y comida hasta autos, casas, ropa, trabajos, escuela, teléfonos, juegos, dinero… cualquier cosa de este mundo. Y no es porque estas cosas sean malas. Hacen la vida más fácil y cómoda. ¡Algunas cosas son necesarias para mantenernos vivos!
Pero incluso si trabajas toda la vida, estas cosas no durarán. Siempre debemos estar agradecidos por lo que tenemos, pero recuerda siempre que el AMOR es lo más importante. La avaricia no es buena. La felicidad no debería basarse en lo que tenemos, sino en Dios y las personas que nos rodean.
En Lucas 12:13-21, se nos enseña que la vida es más que las cosas materiales. La verdadera vida proviene de una buena relación con Dios, no de acumular riquezas. No de la avaricia.
Siempre queremos más. Pero cuando nos vamos de aquí y regresamos a Dios, si Él nos pregunta qué significa nuestra vida, ¿qué diríamos? ¿Todo lo que hemos acumulado? ¿O que amamos a mi familia, a Dios y a los demás más que a nada? Lo más importante es ser RICO en fe, esperanza y amor.
¡Cosas terrenales vs. cosas eternas! ¿A qué debo aferrarme? ¿Qué debo dejar ir?
