“WATCH, PRAY, HOPE. AND ACT FROM THE HEART” / “ VELAD, OREN, ESPEREN. Y ACTÚEN DESDE EL CORAZÓN

The person who contemplates from and in the heart has quite the challenge these days. There is so much in the world that breaks hearts and that can keep them from being fully alive. Violence is violent in itself and it always goes to the core of the human person.

Consider the war in Ukraine, the suffering in Haiti, the towns and areas of Mexico and Central America that live under the threat of drug cartels, the desperate and dangerous migration of people all over the world, the expansion of the war in the Middle East, drug and human trafficking, the millions that are enslaved all over the world, the growing suffering of the poor and disenfranchised, the hate and the division created by politics, the religious prejudices and violence in
Nigeria and India, the abuse of minors, the silence of many, the cold shoulder that may give all these matters, the “whatever” attitude of the numb of spirit, the ignorance of these matters that some prefer, the indifference of too many, the lack of compassion and understanding, and the list, unfortunately, goes on and on and on.

And, yet there are so many people who watch, pray, hope and act from their hearts. People that indeed care about our world and the human race. People who perceive the conscious that they are in God. People watching, getting involved, trying to make a difference, praying, and hoping against hope with the heart of God. How fortunate the human race is for having these wonderful people who do not let anything disengage them from the courageous and selfless act of loving without limits or borders or conditions. How blessed we are to have these unsung heroes among us that carry such burdens because they watch, pray, hope, and act from their union with God.

It’s too bad that they are not subjects of the news. How wonderful it would be to watch them so we could join them. Pray with them so that we could fortify them. Hope with them so that we could care for them. Act with them so that the voices of the just and the compassionate would get stronger and louder in our world.

La persona que contempla desde y en el corazón tiene un gran desafío en estos días. Hay tantas cosas en el mundo que rompen corazones y que pueden impedirles estar plenamente vivos. La violencia es violenta en sí misma y siempre llega al núcleo de la persona humana.

Pensemos en la guerra en Ucrania, el sufrimiento en Haití, las ciudades y zonas de México y América Central que viven bajo la amenaza de los cárteles de la droga, la migración desesperada y peligrosa de personas en todo el mundo, la expansión de la guerra en Oriente Medio, el tráfico de drogas y de personas, los millones de personas esclavizadas en todo el mundo, el creciente sufrimiento de los pobres y marginados, el odio y la división creados por la política, los prejuicios religiosos y la violencia en Nigeria y la India, el abuso de menores, el silencio de muchos, la indiferencia con la que se puede tratar a todos estos asuntos, la actitud de no importa ” de los insensibles de espíritu, la ignorancia de estos asuntos que algunos prefieren, la indiferencia de demasiados, la falta de compasión y comprensión, y la lista, por desgracia, sigue y sigue y sigue.

Y, sin embargo, hay tanta gente que observa, reza, espera y actúa desde el corazón. Gente que de verdad se preocupa por nuestro mundo y la raza humana. Gente que percibe la conciencia de que está en Dios. Gente que observa, se involucra, trata de marcar una diferencia, reza y espera contra toda esperanza con el corazón de Dios. Qué afortunada es la raza humana por tener a estas maravillosas personas que no dejan que nada les aparte del acto valiente y desinteresado de amar sin límites ni fronteras ni condiciones. Qué bendición tener entre nosotros a estos héroes anónimos que llevan tantas cargas porque observan, rezan, esperan y actúan desde su unión con Dios.

Es una lástima que no sean protagonistas de las noticias. Qué maravilloso sería observarlos para poder unirnos a ellos. Orar con ellos para poder fortalecerlos. Esperar con ellos para poder cuidarlos. Actuar con ellos para que las voces de los justos y los compasivos se hagan más y más fuertes en nuestro mundo.
