Hay veces que al final del día lo último que
quiero escuchar es el sonido de mi propia voz. Pero claro, tengo una mente que nunca deja de hablar.<!- wp:more --><!--more--> It seems that I’m always thinking about something…something I have to do or want to do, something that happened or might happen, something that someone said or shouldn’t have said, and the list goes on and one. Sometimes, when I turn the light out to go to sleep, I pray for my brain to stop thinking…to shut up and leave me alone. How I wish I could turn off the brain the same way I turn out the lights! Have you ever felt this way? Do you sometimes wish for a little bit of silence and to be all by yourself? Actually, that’s a good wish.
One that can help us a lot at times. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to get away from everyone and everything for a little bit once in a while. I do understand that it’s easier said then done, especially when you have a family to care for. Maybe, just maybe, that’s something that we can all think about and talk about so that we can have a needed break once in a while.
What do you think? Of course, it requires some maneuvering and planning, but it can be done.
Let me suggest a couple of things to consider: First of all, everyone needs a break once in a while. It’s good for us and for our mental and emotional wellbeing. It’s important that the adults in a family are aware that giving each other a little time for rest and leisure, away from the normal responsibilities of everyday life, can actually benefit the entire family. It would be a little time that we take for ourselves to care for ourselves and recharge the batteries. Do you think, that if you truly put your minds to it, you can do this favor for one another? Why don’t you try it at least once and see how it works. Even if it’s just a few hours one day that you give the other the opportunity to rest without worry. You may even want to do this together with others that are doing the same and go out and enjoy together those few hours. It’s not a bad idea, is it? Have you ever given it any thought?
There’s another idea that I want to present to you and it’s more on a spiritual level. You know, there is something very wonderful and powerful when people gather for silent prayer, reflection and contemplation. Something happens that brings us deep peace and tranquility when we do this. Perhaps there are some of you that would be interested in getting together on a regular basis, maybe once every two weeks or once a month, when you come together to be together in prayer…without saying a word, without preparing any kind of presentation or meeting agenda. It would be a time to support one another with one’s presence knowing that you are together in prayer with God. It would be a time when you embrace silence as a friend and let the silence minister to you and take you to God. Have you ever thought about it? Would you like to try it?
Let me know. Call me and tell me that you are interested. Of course, you can always stop by the church during the day. It’s silent and you can rest here too.
Think about it. You are in my prayers and in my heart. Peace.
