True Freedom, Human Dignity, and Consecration of the US to the Sacred Heart of Jesus\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

As the United States approaches the <\/span>250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence<\/b>, we are given an opportunity to reflect on why this nation was founded in 1776.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Our founders declared that every single human being has sacred, fundamental rights\u2026 life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. They boldly pointed out that these rights DO NOT<\/strong> exist because a government or an earthly king handed them down, but because \u201c<\/span>God created us with these rights\u201d.<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In our Catholic Christian tradition, we know that true freedom is so much deeper than just “doing whatever we want”.\u00a0 True freedom is the liberty given by God to choose what is good, to serve our neighbors, and to love one another unconditionally.<\/span><\/p>\n

A Milestone for the Whole Family<\/b><\/span><\/h4>\n

For many, the United States is an adopted home. Whether your family has been here for generations or you have just recently arrived, the true meaning of this 250th anniversary belongs to <\/span>all<\/i><\/b> of us. It is a moment to express profound gratitude for the many blessings, the safety and the community we have found here, while also remembering that as Catholic Christians, our ultimate true citizenship is in Heaven.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

To honor this special year, the Bishops of the United States are inviting all Catholics and Christians to participate in a historic event:<\/span> <\/span>The Consecration of the United States to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.<\/b><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

Why the Sacred Heart?<\/b><\/span><\/h4>\n

The Sacred Heart of Jesus represents unconditional love, mercy, and absolute unity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It is our reminder that Christ\u2019s heart beats with equal, infinite love for <\/span>everyone<\/i><\/b>, regardless of their race, creed, sex, country of origin, or legal background.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

When we consecrate our nation to <\/span>His Heart<\/b>, we are not only looking back at history or celebrating a major political event, we are bringing our entire country, with all of our unique heartaches, struggles, and hopes, and laying them directly at the feet of Christ. We are asking the Sacred Heart to:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
