But Jesus never led a country or nation or an army.\u00a0 <strong>So how can he be king?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the readings <a href=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/Colossians\/1?12\">Colossians 1:12-20<\/a> we hear that Jesus is before all things.<\/p>\n<p>He is the head of the body, which means He is the leader of the world and our church.<\/p>\n<p>All things were created:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;<strong>THROUGH<\/strong>&#8221; Him<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<strong>WITH<\/strong>&#8221; Him<\/li>\n<li>All things hold together &#8220;<strong>IN<\/strong>&#8221; Him.<\/li>\n<li>He has the fullness of God, because He <strong>&#8220;is&#8221;<\/strong> God.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>He is the glue that holds everything together.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>During the crucifixion, <a href=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/luke\/23?35\">Luke 23:35-43<\/a> He doesn&#8217;t use His power to save Himself from the cross. Instead, He offered a sacrificial Love, instead of a powerful Love, which is why &#8220;<strong>He is the true king&#8221;<\/strong>.\u00a0It is a <strong>LOVE<\/strong> that <strong>LOVES<\/strong>, even when loving is painful and inconvenient.<\/p>\n<p>We can show this kind of love to others, and bring ourselves closer to God and share HIS love. This is how we follow His example of how to treat others.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>How can we show the same kind of love to others?\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<div class=\"zMgcWd dSKvsb\" data-il=\"\">\n<div data-crb-p=\"\">\n<div class=\"xFTqob\">\n<ul>\n<li class=\"Gur8Ad\">Is it Sacrificial? Do you choose to give something up that you want or like for the sake of someone else?<\/li>\n<li class=\"Gur8Ad\">Is it Painful\/Inconvenient? Do you still choose to love someone even when it&#8217;s hard or when they don&#8217;t deserve it (like when they are mean, or when you are tired)?<\/li>\n<li class=\"Gur8Ad\">Does it show True Strength?\u00a0 Does it take more courage and inner strength to be kind when it&#8217;s both easy AND hard?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>At Home and with Family<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Sharing Your Favorite Toy (Giving Up Your Comfort):\u00a0Instead of: Putting your favorite blanket or toy away when a friend comes over so you don&#8217;t have to share.\n<ul>\n<li>The Selfless Love: Choosing to let your younger sibling play with your favorite LEGO set for 10 minutes, even though you really want to play with it yourself right now.<\/li>\n<li>You are giving up your immediate desire for their joy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Helping When You&#8217;re Tired (Giving Up Your Rest):\u00a0Instead of: Lying on the couch watching a show.\n<ul>\n<li>The Selfless Love: Getting up right away when a parent asks for help carrying the groceries from the car, even though you are very tired and wanted to finish your cartoon.<\/li>\n<li>You sacrifice your rest to serve.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Choosing Peace Over Being Right (Giving Up Your Ego):\u00a0Instead of: Yelling back at a sibling or arguing about who broke something.\n<ul>\n<li>The Selfless Love: Letting your brother or sister have the last word in a small argument, or saying, &#8220;I&#8217;m sorry I got mad, let&#8217;s just be friends,&#8221; even if you feel like they were mostly at fault.<\/li>\n<li>You sacrifice your need to be &#8220;right.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>At School and with Friends<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Including the Unpopular Child (Giving Up Convenience\/Status):\u00a0Instead of: Only playing with the &#8220;cool&#8221; kids.\n<ul>\n<li>The Selfless Love: Seeing a new student or a child sitting alone at lunch and walking over to ask,<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Do you want to play with us?&#8221; even if it feels a little awkward or your other friends might not approve.<\/li>\n<li>You sacrifice your comfort to welcome them.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Doing a Chore That Isn&#8217;t Yours (Giving Up Your Time):\u00a0Instead of: Only cleaning up your own mess.\n<ul>\n<li>The Selfless Love: Seeing that a friend accidentally spilled a big box of crayons and quietly helping them pick up the mess, even though you were supposed to be starting recess.<\/li>\n<li>You sacrifice your fun time to help someone in need.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Forgiving a Mistake (Giving Up Your Pain):\u00a0Instead of: Staying angry all day because a friend accidentally knocked over your tower.\n<ul>\n<li>The Selfless Love: Saying, &#8220;It&#8217;s okay, I know you didn&#8217;t mean to,&#8221;
