Prayers from above?: How do I talk to Him?

In this weeks readings, we focus on how God communicated with us in different ways. In biblical times, like in Genesis 18:20-32<\/a> and He spoke directly to individuals like Abraham, instructing and leading them in the right direction. But today, we can only imagine how intense it would be if God were to come down and start speaking to us through a cloud.<\/p>\n

In Luke 11:1-13<\/a>, Jesus instructs His people on how we can communicate with God, through prayer. In particular The Lords Prayer (see funny videos below). It is hard though to imagine the prayers we learned to recite since our childhood, are an effective way of communicating with God. Many times we see these prayers as a way to simply stay in God’s good graces… reciting the words and doing a quick sign of the cross before running on to the next distraction.<\/p>\n

We have a hard enough time trying to communicate with each other here on earth… it seems impossible to talk to someone who we cannot hear communicate back to us.<\/p>\n

If only we had simple steps in how to talk to God?<\/p>\n
