I feel like a broken record. So be it! I guess that\u2019s part of my responsibilities now-a-days: to sound like a broken record until this is over. As you continue reading, I would really appreciate it if you wouldn\u2019t bring politics into this, because if you do\u2026well, I just wouldn\u2019t get why you would do such a thing. \r\n\r\nI often ask myself: \u201cWhat is it going to take for us to understand that getting rid of the pandemic from the face of the earth is up to each and every one of us? \r\n\r\nI also ask myself: \u201cWhen did we lose sight of our individual responsibility to the common good? When did we lose sight of the common good?\u201d \r\n\r\nWhen I look around the world and consider countries that lack the vaccine and are begging for it, and then consider so many in this country that are still resistant to getting vaccinated while the vaccine is free and readily available, I\u2019m left in total frustration and with a sense of defeat over this plague that affects all of humanity. What in the world is going on? \r\n\r\nWe are nearing five million deaths world-wide from the virus. We are going towards seven hundred thousand deaths in this country. Now we are witnessing another serious wave of infections and deaths among the unvaccinated with a new variant that is even more contagious. And still, there are many that oppose getting vaccinated while they hold on to conspiracy theories and misinformation of every kind.\r\n \r\nI, simply, don\u2019t get it! \r\n\r\nDon\u2019t we realize the suffering that our loved ones are going to go through if we are infected and get sick? Don\u2019t we realize the agony and sorrow that they will go through if we wind up on a respirator and, God forbid, we die? Are we still of the mind-set of \u201cit\u2019s not going to happen to me?\u201d Really? Why are we still toying around with suffering and death? I don\u2019t get it! \r\n\r\nSo, please tell me what it is that I don\u2019t get as I contemplate the suffering and death that is all around us. Tell me exactly what I don\u2019t get as to why there are so many who are taking such an unnecessary risk? Tell me what I don\u2019t get about how so many don\u2019t consider the common good. Explain to me why you won\u2019t get vaccinated when new variants are being discovered. Tell me exactly what I don\u2019t get when I see you protesting the vaccination efforts that can save your life.
