It is a big monster that stomps on the poor innocence of the people.”

This Sunday’s Gospel proclaims that Jesus makes the deaf hear and those with speech impediments speak clearly. Imagine how they must have felt upon hearing and speaking clearly for the first time. Imagine that moment! What a sense of relief and release it must have been for them!

Imagine what new dreams and hopes surely sprang up in their minds and hearts upon realizing the new hope they now had for a better life. I think that there were so many things that Jesus healed and redeemed in those lives. What a daring thing for Jesus to do! Don’t you think so?

My dear people, we cannot become deaf nor silent in the face of injustice nor to face and challenge those injustices in solidarity with those who suffer. We have to lose the fear of our fears that sometimes closes our ears and mouths when it is necessary to listen and shout in order to protect and care for others. Fear cannot and should never overcome us in the responsibility of throwing ourselves into the rescue and the safeguarding of others who need us.

Faith and trust in God is our strength so as to be that kind of person who actively cares for others. By our faith and friendship with God we can be and we can create a positive difference in the lives of those who need us. With God we find courage. As Christians, we have this responsibility that is truly an honor to be participants in the liberating work of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

You are in my prayers and in my heart.

Friar Julio

“When the church hears the cry of the oppressed, it cannot but denounce the social structures That give rise to and perpetuate the misery from which the cry arises.” Bishop Oscar Romero…

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

186

post-5572","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-from-the-heart
["GET
