Another week gone. Another one starting.\u00a0 We sit down in our usual seats and wait, looking up at the altar. Nothing has changed except for the flowers. We notice a new bottle of water sitting up behind the priest&#8217;s chair. Oh wait! I forgot to genuflect! O well&#8230; I&#8217;m already sitting. I&#8217;ll do it when I leave.<\/p>\n<p>Growing up we are taught about the cross, and Jesus&#8217; crucifixion at Easter. <span data-huuid=\"14449512843408185536\">But sometimes, the meaning doesn&#8217;t always &#8220;sink in&#8221;.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>As Catholic Christians, we believe that the cross and the <span data-huuid=\"14449512843408185536\">crucifix both represent Christ&#8217;s <strong>supreme<\/strong> act of love and sacrifice for <strong>ALL<\/strong> of humanity&#8217;s sins&#8230;<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong> past, present and future<\/strong><\/span>. <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>It is how God brings humanity back to Him. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>It is a symbol of victory over sin and death. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>It is a reminder of the great and endless love of God. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>It is a call to live a good and Christian life. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>It is a symbol for us to endure hardship with our faith.<span class=\"pjBG2e\" data-cid=\"29d20d97-7d58-488a-87ab-7b862984a374\"><span class=\"UV3uM\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>But there IS A HUGE difference between each of them! The empty cross symbolizes our faith and Jesus&#8217; victory over death by his resurrection. The crucifix symbolizes the sacrifice and suffering of Jesus&#8217; crucifixion.<\/p>\n<p>While the symbolism of the crucifix seems a bit more somber than that of the cross, we have to consider how our faith and love of God and of each other can quickly be overshadowed by trials and tribulations.\u00a0 (especially in times of trouble and despair)<\/p>\n<p>Knowing, seeing, understanding and accepting that Jesus&#8217; suffering on the cross was for us, we are reminded that everything we go through here on earth, (good and bad), is felt by God.\u00a0 \u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/psalms\/34\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Psalm 34:18<\/a>\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/isaiah\/49\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Isaiah 49:15<\/a>\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/john\/11\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">John 11:35<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>So <strong>why do so many people treat the cross differently?<\/strong> Some will hang it on the wall at home dusting it off once in a while, while others will pray daily in front of the image or make the sign of the cross as they pass by it. Otra semana se fue. Otra comenz\u00f3. Nos sentamos en nuestros asientos habituales y esperamos, mirando hacia el altar. Nada ha cambiado, excepto las flores. Vemos una botella de agua nueva detr\u00e1s de la silla del sacerdote. \u00a1Oh, espera! \u00a1Olvid\u00e9 hacer la genuflexi\u00f3n! Bueno&#8230; Ya estoy sentado. Lo har\u00e9 cuando me vaya.<\/p>\n<p>De ni\u00f1os, nos ense\u00f1an sobre la cruz y la crucifixi\u00f3n de Jes\u00fas en Pascua. Pero a veces, el significado no siempre se asimila.<\/p>\n<p>Como cristianos cat\u00f3licos, creemos que tanto la cruz como el crucifijo representan el acto <strong>supremo<\/strong> de amor y sacrificio de Cristo por <strong>TODOS<\/strong> los pecados de la humanidad&#8230; <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">pasados, presentes y futuros.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Es la forma en que Dios trae a la humanidad de regreso a \u00c9l.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Es un s\u00edmbolo de victoria sobre el pecado y la muerte.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Es un recordatorio del gran e infinito amor de Dios.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Es un llamado a vivir una vida buena y cristiana.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Es un s\u00edmbolo para que soportemos las dificultades con nuestra fe.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a1Pero hay una enorme diferencia entre cada una! La cruz vac\u00eda simboliza nuestra fe y la victoria de Jes\u00fas sobre la muerte mediante su resurrecci\u00f3n. El crucifijo simboliza el sacrificio y el sufrimiento de la crucifixi\u00f3n de Jes\u00fas.<\/p>\n<p>Si bien el simbolismo del crucifijo parece un poco m\u00e1s sombr\u00edo que el de la cruz, debemos considerar c\u00f3mo nuestra fe y amor por Dios y por los dem\u00e1s pueden verse r\u00e1pidamente eclipsados \u200b\u200bpor las pruebas y las tribulaciones (especialmente en tiempos de dificultad y desesperaci\u00f3n).<\/p>\n<p>Saber, ver, comprender y aceptar que el sufrimiento de Jes\u00fas en la cruz fue por nosotros, nos recuerda que Dios siente todo lo que pasamos aqu\u00ed en la tierra (bueno o malo). (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bibliacatolica.com.br\/biblia-latinoamericana\/salmos\/34\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Salmo 34:18<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bibliacatolica.com.br\/biblia-latinoamericana\/isaias\/49\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Isa\u00edas 49:15<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bibliacatolica.com.br\/biblia-latinoamericana\/evangelio-segun-san-juan\/11\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Juan 11:35<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>Entonces, <strong>\u00bfpor qu\u00e9 tanta gente trata la cruz de manera diferente?<\/strong> Algunos la colgar\u00e1n en la pared de casa, quit\u00e1ndole el polvo de vez en cuando, mientras que otros rezar\u00e1n a diario frente a la imagen o se persignar\u00e1n al pasar junto a ella. Algunos llevar\u00e1n un colgante de una cruz\/crucifijo a diario porque fue un regalo de su madre, mientras que otros se lo pondr\u00e1n permanentemente en la piel como recordatorio constante de su camino de fe.<\/p>\n<p>No importa c\u00f3mo lo veamos, no importa c\u00f3mo usemos la cruz\/crucifijo, <strong>TODOS, como cristianos cat\u00f3licos,<\/strong> estamos llamados <strong>a comprender<\/strong> en nuestro coraz\u00f3n el verdadero significado de<strong> Su Cruz<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cross vs Crucifix&#8230;Whats the difference? \/ Cruz vs Crucifijo&#8230;\u00bfCu\u00e1l es la diferencia?
